THERE’S NO doubt that 2003 is proving to be the government’s year of success in curbing drug trafficking. The latest figures on drug busts and apprehended traffickers conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) reflect the administration’s effective measures and operations in the last six months.
“Since President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo gave directives to the PNP and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to bring the war against drugs to the remotest barangays, this has yielded substantial results in our desire to dismantle shabu laboratories and neutralize big international groups behind the rampant drug trafficking nationwide,†stated PNP Deputy Director General Edgar Aglipay.
