A hotel cook was shot dead by gunmen aboard a motorcycle in Purok 7, Mampang, this city yesterday morning.

The die is cast. After the frenzy of the mid year elections comes the serious stuff.

City officials elected into office last May 14 will begin their new term of office noontime today after formal oath taking ceremonies to be held at the open stage fronting City Hall at 9 a.m.

A worker at the cock farm of a Land Transportation Office official was hacked to death in Sitio Salum, San Roque last Thursday afternoon.

A police report identified the fatality as Efren Cruz y Solis, married, of Macrohon Drive, San Roque.

A gang engaged in the stealing of motorcycles was believed to have been busted by the police following the arrest of two suspected members, a former army integree and a woman  Operatives of the Tetuan Police Station led by Chief Insp. Hado Edding arrested Nijan Jamhali also known as Dan, 32, married, a former Army integree at his house in Sitio Matawis, Barangay Tigbalabag last Thursday morning where the lawmen recovered four suspected stolen motorcycles during the operation.Among the motorcycles recovered were a skeleton black Honda Dream with no plate number, one black Honda Dream Excess with plate number JJ-5629, one Honda Wave X with plate number JM 3680 and one black Honda Wave Alpha with no plate number.

Respect to civilian supremacy

This letter commends CSAFP Gen Hermogenes Esperon Jr’s  act of high deference to civilian supremacy.

1Lt. Antonio Trillanes has been proclaimed senator but the issue over his custody and on how he should attend Senate sessions remain to be the butt of discussions considering that he is facing both civilian and military courts.

Presidential appointees in government-sequestered corporations under the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) have been directed to submit their courtesy resignations not later than June 30.

As it takes effect on July 15, there is a need to make people understand the Human Security Act or Republic Act No. 9372 in order to address the fears of possible abuses in the implementation of its provisions.

I missed you, guys. I took a sabbatical right after the elections to free myself from being an analyst of what had happened in the polls and how and why certain people made it and some didn’t. I would have preferred all my “gallos” to win, but as in all contests, some come out happy, some come out sad. So, we just have to let the band play on and wish for better days for those who lost.
