The mayor of San Miguel municipality, Zamboanga del Sur is facing illegal detention and evading arrest charges after he allegedly detained 74 high school students who were on educational tour at his residence.

Now that the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections are over, all aspirants—winners and losers alike— should unite and move forward for the betterment of the community and the City.

An aspirant for barangay chairman and his body guard were gunned down by two armed men in Malamawi, Isabela City during the Barangay and Sanggunian Kabataan election yesterday.

At least 43 cases of election-related violent incidents have been listed by the Philippine National Police, with at least 23 persons killed and 20 others wounded since the election season started last month.
