Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday conferred with police, military and education officials to assess anew all security measures being adopted amid the kidnapping crisis.

An 11-year-old girl last Monday afternoon accused her father of raping her in R.T Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The girl, a grade five student, filed the rape complaint with the police against Ernesto Terana, 53.

Nikki Butlangan, a local media man who was able to enter the hideout of the Abu Sayyaf together with Sulu Vice Gov. Nur Anna I. Sahidulla on Jan 27 said that the group did not demand for any ransom, but only asked that livelihood programs and development projects ibe implemented in the area.

Four Zamboangueño small-time gold miners were killed by Moro Islamic Liberation Front rebels while a teenager was wounded in a bolo and gun attack in Sitio Lakiki, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte last Wednesday afternoon.
Killed were Benjamin Endido, Jocel Dela Cruz, Audy Baliente and brother Jonas. Wounded was Mark Endido, son of Benjamin. They are all residents of Sitio Gutad, Curuan, this city.

A high school campus which can come up with the best forest park is set to win a new school building with full computer laboratory, the Department of Education announced.  

Policemen of the Sangali Police Station and personnel of the City Agriculturist Office and Bantay Dagat on Wednesday intercepted a fishing boat with 32 crew members aboard off Bolong and Tumalutab Island for illegal fishing.
A police report said that the crew members aboard the fishing boat violated Section 62 of Republic Act No. 8550 and Section 34 of Ordinance No. 2002-89.
The fishing boat named F/B Althea 2 was apprehended more or less 15 nautical miles away from Bolong.

Mayor Celso Lobregat recently welcomed the appointment of former Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Avelino Razon Jr. as presidential adviser on the peace process.
