The Armed Forces yesterday said that the number of applicants for the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) entrance examination have already increased to 11,428.
AFP public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos siad the figure is 1,100 higher compared to last year’s number of applicants. The PMA is expecting more or less 15, 000 applicants for this year’s examination.
“The PMA is once again opening opportunities for young aspirants who dream of becoming the future military officers and leaders of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as they hold their annual entrance examination on August 29, 2010 and will be simultaneously done in 35 examination centers nationwide,” said Burgos.
The Admission Office requires that all applicants must be a natural born Filipino citizen, physically fit, and have never been married. Applicants must at least be 17 years old but not a day older than 22 years on April 1, 2011, a high school graduate with a grade point average of 85 percent or higher, and a minimum of 5’4” tall for males and 5’2” tall for the females.
The application form, which is distributed nationwide, can also be retrieved online in PMA’s official website www.pma.ph.
Once filled-up, the applicant must submit the form and attach two copies of 2x2 ID picture, pencil, authenticated or NSO copy of birth certificate, and true copy of High School Form 137.
The form shall be mailed to the Office of Cadet Admission, Philippine Military Academy, Fort del Pilar, Baguio City 2602, not later than two weeks before the scheduled examination date.
Burgos said the Admission Office is reminding the aspiring applicants that the cut-off date for submitting their applications is on August 21, 2010 at exactly 8:00 am.
“Applicants are advised to review and prepare for the examination which will cover Algebra and Geometry, Grammar and Composition, Reading and Comprehension, Verbal and Numerical Reasoning and Pattern Analysis,” said Burgos.
Examination permits are sent through mail to the address reflected by the applicants in their application forms and also can be verified at the venue during the examination.
Once an applicant passed, he or she is expected to report to the PMA on April 1, 2011.
“Once they graduate from the PMA, cadets will be conferred with a degree of Bachelor of Science and will hold the rank of a 2nd Lieutenant,” added Burgos.
