Continuously accelerating health services to the constituents, the city government Saturday turned over to barangay Bungiao, a newly constructed health and wellness center project costing P1.4 million.
Mayor Celso Lobregat spearheaded the unveiling rites together with City Health Officer Rodel Agbulos, Councilors Lilia Nuno, Rudy Lim, Eddie Saavedra and Myra Abubakar, City Engineer Luis Despalo and Asst. City Health Officer Dr. Carol Carabana and Bungiao barangay officials headed by Chairman Nestor Atilano.
Mayor Lobregat said the newly constructed health facility in Bungiao is another proof of his administration’s intensified health program and continuing concern for the barangay folks.
The Bungiao health center is the third to be inaugurated and turned over this year, the first was the P1.4 million Canelar health and wellness center last March 5 and the second was the P1.628 million health and wellness center in Barangay Bolong last June 8.
“Wellness centers kita ta construe para hinde lang el enfermo ay puede usa con este facilidad si no pate el maga hinde enfermo por medio de maga preventive medicines”, the mayor said, as he turned over the facility to barangay officials as well as health officials assigned to man the facility. He likewise asked the authorities concerned to take care of the facility and to make proper use of it.
City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos said modernizing and upgrading health centers forms part of the initiative to reduce maternal and infant deaths, which are thrusts of the City Health Office.
Meanwhile, after the turn over ceremony, the chief executive together with the other city officials inspected other city-government projects—both ongoing and those to be constructed soon in the other barangays in the east coast.
From Bungiao, the mayor proceeded to barangay Victoria where he inspected the health center and barangay hall which will be rehabilitated soon and later motored to Taluksangay where he checked on the site for the proposed construction of a 2-storey 6 classroom building and a rip rap project for the elementary school in the area.
From Taluksangay, the mayor and party proceeded to Zambowood where he inspected the ongoing Boalan-Zambowood road which is now about 40 percent complete and the ongoing Lumbayao bridge project; after which he proceeded to Putik ANW Subdivision where he also inspected the site for the proposed barangay road.
Even before he took his oath for his third term in office last June 30, Mayor Lobregat has been inaugurating one project after the other in line with his administration’s thrust on massive implementation of infrastructure projects covering a wide array of areas—education, health, agriculture, tourism and others.
From 2007 to the end of 2009, the Lobregat administration has some P2.2 for infrastructure projects—all in line with the City Development Strategy and the 17-point agenda of government that he and his party mates presented to the people.
