Two men were shot dead in another round of violence in Arena Blanco, this city yesterday afternoon.
Authorities however said the latest shooting incident in the area is not related to the violent feud in the area that had earlier claimed the lives of 27 people in the last few months.
Police identified the fatalities as Basim Abdul Penda and one Abdulnajer. Basim died on the spot, while Abdulnajer was rushed to the Zamboanga City Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.
City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo said the assailant identified as Arfa Abdul was arrested by policemen who also seized a .380 pistol that was used in the shooting.
De Ocampo said the victims and the assailant are relatives, an indication that it was a personal or family violence, and not gang rivalry or related to the series of violence that erupted in the Arena Blanco, Mampang and Talon-Talon area three months ago.
No other details available about yesterday’s shooting in Arena Blanco.
De Ocampo commended his men for the immediate arrest of the assailant.
Meanwhile, a 53-year-old man was stabbed and seriously wounded while having a drinking spree in Sitio Green Valley, San Roque last Sunday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Alfredo Panurul y Dela Cruz, married. He sustained three stab wounds in the body and was taken to the Zamboanga City Medical Center for treatment.
Initial investigation disclosed that Panurul was in a drinking spree around 4 p.m. when Felipe Sobrado, 40, married of Masiay, San Roque who was apparently drunk appeared and stabbed him three times.
Sobrado escaped after the incident while the victim was taken to the Zamboanga City Medical Center.
The Sta. Maria police under Chief Insp. Felix Martinez have readied charges against Sobrado while he is still at large.
