Because of its remarkable accomplishments in 2009, the City Civil Registrar’s Office under Atty. Alexander Eric Elias ranked 7th in the list of top 10 performing Local Civil Registrar’s Office (LCRO) in the Philippines under the extra large category.
The search was held during the 5th National Workshop on Civil Registration held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
A total of 47 local civil registrar’s offices under the extra large category, in the country were assessed and validated to determine the top performing offices.
Mayor Celso Lobregat commended Atty. Elias and his staff for the well deserved feat as he urged them to strive more so that
“We thank Mayor Celso Lobregat for his all out support to our office,” Atty. Elias said when presented with the plaque after the flag raising ceremony in front of City Hall recently. “We likewise express our gratitude to all stakeholders for helping us accomplish our goals”.
Atty. Elias said the citation boosts the morale of his personnel and will help them achieve more in the months and years to come.
The plaque was first presented during the70th anniversary celebration of the National Statistics Office (NSO) held at the NSO Regional Office based in the city recently. It is signed by Ronaldo C. Taghap, NSO OIC Regional Director.
In 2009, registration of vital documents increased to 34,445 from the previous year’s record of 33,594. Of the total number, 22,387 were certificates of live births and 4,314 were certificates of deaths.
Other vital documents registered were 2,828 certificates of marriage; 2,793 marriage applications; 1,347 legal instruments; 98 court orders/decrees and implementation of RA 9048 that included 492 correction of clerical error and 86 change of first name.
Collection on civil registry for 2009 reached P3.7 million.
Through the support of Mayor Lobregat, the Civil Registrar’s Office has been able to have its new building which was completed and turned over last August 9, 2009. Costing P13.1 million, the beautiful 2-storey building with heritage design and architecture has a spacious floor area of 790 square meters.
The Civil Registrar’s office maintains a sub-office at the Ayala City Hall extension in a bid to bring services closer to the people. In 2009, the sub-office processed 399 marriage documents and 1,557 birth registration and certification documents.
