The Basilan Police Provincial Office is preparing for the deployment of police troopers to the different municipalities in the province in connection with the special election for the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board) scheduled on October 2,2010.

The special election will be held due to a miscounting or error that took place in the May 10, 2010.

Basilan Police Director Sr. Supt. Cristeto Rey DL. Gonzalodo said the deployment of police troopers is in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“The deployment of our men is maximized with back-up forces from the Special Action Force. I’m still waiting for the directive from the higher command and the Comelec,” Gonzalodo said.

According to him, the Basillan Police Provincial Command will be very busy on October as the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections will also push through.

Meanwhile, Gonzalodo called on the people in the province to celebrate Hariraya without firing of firearms because it can cause harm to people.

He said that during the fasting month, Basilan has been very peaceful.

Gonzalodo has ordered his men not to fire their guns, as he directed the taping of the muzzles of all issued firearms on September 7.
