A training workshop on the Young People's Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Poverty Reduction Strategies in the Philippines tilts November 5 to 8 initiated by the Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Family Planning Organization of the Philippines.
The 4-day activity will bring together Filipino youth activists who will use a youth, sexual and reproductive lens to analyze the National Development Plan (NDP) of the Philippines. Participants will gain knowledge on the NDP process and how to more effectively advocate for the integration of young people's sexual and reproductive health and rights into the national development framework.
The Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (YC) is an international organization of young people (ages 15-29 years) committed to promoting adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive rights at the national, regional and international levels. We are students, researchers, lawyers, health care professionals, educators, development workers, and most importantly, we are all dedicated activists.
Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) is a nationwide organization of professional and community-based volunteers. They provide reproductive health services and inform and educate communities about SRHR, especially the poor, marginalized, socially excluded and underserved. They are currently found in 25 provinces across the country.
Youth participants to this activity came from all over the country, ages 15 to 25, who have basic knowledge in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights or another related field (i.e. gender equity, HIV/AIDS, youth participation, trafficking of young women, sexual orientation and gender identity, etc.) and are affiliated with an organization/have some experience in working in the area of sexual and reproductive right or another related field (i.e. youth sexual health clinic, studies in related field, political work on youth issues etc.).
