The Basilan Police Provincial Office has created Task Force Gersal to search for and arrest former congressman Gerry Salapudin who was named as one of the suspects in the bomb attack that killed the late congressman Wahab Akbar at the Batasan Complex in Quezon City on November 13,2007.

Basilan Police Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Cristeto Rey Gonzalodo said the main task and mission of Task Force Gersal is to locate Salapuddin as his command has already a warrant for the congressman’s arrest.

Gonzalodo said his command has received an intelligence report that Salapudin is somewhere in the municipality of Tuburan.

“I’m still validating the raw information from intelligence operatives in the province,” Gonzalodo said.

The bomb that killed Akbar was strapped on a motorcycle, according to the investigation of the Philippine National Police. It exploded at the right wing portion of the Congress building at the Batasan Complex.
