The 5th Regional Mathematics and Science Festival with the theme, “Many Species, One planet, One future” will conclude today at the Maria Clara Lobregat Memorial National High School and Divisoria Elementary School, respectively.
The event which started last Friday is being held by the regional chapter of the Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) and the Science Club Advisers of the Philippines (SCAAP) under the leadership of Dr. Ruben Angeles in collaboration with the Department of Education-9.
Some 2,000 pupils and students from eight schools divisions participating in this annual activity come from Dipolog City, Dapitan City, Isabela City, Pagadian City, Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Norte, Zamboanga Del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay. The event is conducted to celebrate the international year of biodiversity, imparting the importance of it to human well-being and encourages everyone to give extra efforts in reducing biodiversity loss with the following activities diorama preparation, yell composition, eco-poems, translations, choral reading, slogan formulation, puzzles of plants and animal kingdom, animal hide and seek and animal habitats and many others.
The search for Ms. Science and Mathematics Festival is expected to highlight the program where different beauties from different delegations will showcase talents and intelligence, expressing the importance of the balance of biodiversity.
