A husband and wife were wounded while their two children including a five-year-old boy narrowly escaped death or injury after gunmen rained their house with bullets in a remote barangay in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte last Thursday night.
The couple were identified as Ronaldo Capuno, 41, and Rosalita, 39.The children’s identities were withheld by police authorities.
A police report disclosed that the Capuno family was in deep slumber about 10 p.m. when gunmen sneaked into the back portion of the victims’ house and opened fire with the use of .45 caliber pistols.
Ronaldo who was awakened by the successive shots managed to arm himself with a homemade shotgun and returned fire. However, he was wounded on his left leg while his wife suffered injury in the nape.
The gunmen immediately escaped after the incident while the couple were rushed to the hospital by concerned residents.
Police believed the motive was personal dispute, but identities of the gunmen have yet to be established.
