Complaints on the GSIS flooded yesterday’s hearing of the House Committee on Government Enterprises and Privatization chaired by Zamboanga City Congressman Erbie A. Fabian as it went through its hearings of the first three government owned and controlled corporations or GOCCs.

Complaints were aired by the members of the committee during its interpellation period of the session as anxious GSIS members nationwide, through members of Congress in the committee were seeking clarifications over their GSIS accounts status.

Mostly, these had to do with discrepancies in their accounts such as unreported deductions, late posting of transactions, non remittance of their premiums and others.

The committee led by Fabian has invited the GSIS, SSS and the NFA for briefings on their operations.

Similar complaints on the SSS were also aired on the floor.

The meeting went into overtime prompting the committee to reset similar hearings with the three GOCCs individually this time to address the numerous inquiries that need to be made.

The committee has lined up the review of all GOCCs to have a better picture of how they operate.

This came in light of reports over officials of GOCCs receiving huge salaries, bonuses and perks much to the anger of the people.

Meanwhile, a formal hearing on the NFA also got underway with Reps. Arthur Yap and Dakila Carlo Cua on bills they filed on the government food corporation.

The bills seek to rationalize the NFA operations and streamline its functions to serve the people better.

Present were top officials of the NFA headed by Administrator Lito Banayo.

The SSS contingent was headed by newly appointed President Emilio de Quiros while by GSIS team to the hearings was headed by a top executive as Officer in Charge.
