Pagadian City (22 November) -- To prevent the spread of diseases such as A/H1N1 flu virus and diarrhea, the USAID-HeathPRO, in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Education (DepEd) and local government of unit of Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur will administer proper handwashing to some 100 pupils in Bayog Central Elementary School tomorrow (Tuesday Nov 23).
Health PRO trainer Marjorie Emperio said they have chosen the said school to be the pilot school in handwashing adding that the teachers and students have expressed willingness to cooperate in the said activity.
Emperio said Supervising Sanitary Inspector IV Artemio B. Delda of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) was invited to demonstrate proper handwashing procedure to the students.
It can be recalled that DOH officials taught elementary students proper handwashing habits and checked handwashing facilities to prevent the spread of A/H1N1 flu and other diseases.
The students will be taught to wash their hands before and after eating to make sure they are free from disease-causing germs.
