ZAMBOANGA CITY Motorcycle-riding gunmen shot and critically wounded a court process server in this southern port city on Wednesday, a police official disclosed Wednesday.
Police Station 6 commander Chief Insp. Felixberto Martinez said the incident took place around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay Guiwan, 3.4 kilometers east of this city.
Martinez identified the victim as Bashier Amilhasan, the process server of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 16.
Investigation showed that Amilhasan was driving his motorcycle on the way home when shot along the old highway by one of two men riding tandem on a motorcycle who tailed the victim, Martinez said.
Martinez said that Amilhasan, who is a resident of Callejon Drive, Barangay Guiwan, had fetched his son from the nearby Tetuan Elementary Central School before the incident.
He disclosed they are looking into the possibility that the motive of the incident is work-related.
As a process server, Amilhasan's tasks is to serve subpoenas and court notices.
Amilhasan was admitted at the Western Mindanao Medical Center (WMMC) with two gunshot wounds in the body, Martinez said. (PNA)
