MANILA President Benigno S. Aquino III attended on Saturday the prayer for public officials in the celebration of the Catholic Churchs Universal Day for the Sick at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.
The event, held at the Shrine of Saint Therese of Child Jesus, was also attended by the members of the Presidents Cabinet, other government officials, police and military officials as well as church leaders.
In the Prayer of Entrustment led by the President, he asked for guidance so that his administration could overcome the difficulties the country has been facing to achieve justice, reforms and progress.
Today, Blessed Mother, as we move forward to the 500th year of the Christianization of this land, you bring our lives the purposes and aspirations, our labors and strivings, for you and for Jesus your son, the President said in his prayers to the Virgin Mary.
The event is also part of the A Million Roses for the World campaign initiated by the Family Rosary Crusade of the Philippines. The campaign is intended for Filipinos living in the Philippines and other parts of the world to pray the rosary for world peace.
The campaign started on October 10, 2011 with prayer intentions for Angola that will end on May 20, 2012 with Catholics praying for the Philippines in 200 days.
A Million Roses for the World campaign is aimed at bringing all the peoples of all nations of the world to Jesus Christ and his Father and the Holy Spirit through the Virgin Mary.
Joining the President during Saturdays event were Vice President Jejomar Binay, Energy Secretary Rene Almendras, Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson, Education Secretary Armin Luistro, Science and Technology Secretary Mario Montejo and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Director General Cayetano Paderanga Jr. (PNA)
