COTABATO CITY Plans are underway for the establishment this year of the modern Bureau of Fire Protection-Autonomous Region Muslim Mindanao (BFP-ARMM) main office in Parang, Maguindanao.
Such was revealed Monday by Parang Mayor Ibrahim Ibay in an interview by newsmen here.
It is not yet clear as to how much the building would cost but we have allotted a 1,000-square-meter lot for the construction of the structure in our municipality, Ibay said.
The BFP-ARMM is currently renting an office along Governor Gutierrez St., this city.
At present, the town of Parang houses the Philippine National PoliceARMM main headquarters at the Poblacion and also coordinates with the regional government for the operation of the Polloc open port in Barangay Landasan for the BIMP-EAGA trade linkage.
The addition of the BFP-ARMM office here is a welcome development for us, Ibay said.
The mayors disclosure came in the heels of a big fire over the weekend in the towns coastal village of Bacolod where 27 houses with 51 families were affected in the incident.
The mayor said initial reports reaching him pointed to an abandoned house in the area as the origin of the conflagration.
Accordingly, the vacated house is being used as den by drug addicts in the area but we still have to investigate deeper on the matter, Ibay said.
He said the town government, in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development-ARMM and Maguindanao Governor Esmael Toto Mangudadatu, has distributed relief goods to the fire victims who took shelter to nearby relatives not affected by the fire. (PNA)
