We’ve been fed up with lectures and seminars stressing the importance of youth in nation building; we have been into different programs and advocacies aiming to awaken the spirit of servant leadership among our young Filipinos; but do we see the transcending effect of these words into actions or do we see genuine positive participation among the youth?  Per observation, youth may fall under these three categories:  

Firstly, a sad reality---majority of us still belong to the culture of apathy. We do not care of what will happen, we do not participate socially, we do not actively engage our potentials for the benefits of many. We tend to be selfish and detaching ourselves from the humdrum of reality.

Secondly, when our lives get affected with inevitable circumstances around us, we immediately complain. We keep pointing our fingers to the government officials, we blame them for what they have done, we allegedly accuse them for engulfing the coffers of government, but we keep ourselves blinded with the fact that we haven’t done our part much that we could boldly complain. We raise problems, yet we can’t be part of the solution. We expect too much, yet we act less. We shout at politicians for being cheaters, yet we forget to realize that even inside our classrooms, cheating happens!  

In political context, compromise is purely decisive; however it gives an assurance that none of the participating sides has enough strength to pursue its own personal goals resolutely and completely.

In our efforts to secure democracy in the Philippines, we should therefore learn the basic game of interplay between consensus and conflicts. There should be as much conflict as necessary in order to guarantee room for expression and to secure as many important parts of one’s interests and values as possible in the long run. But there should be as much consensus as necessary in order to prevent conflicts from alienating the consequential of living together in the society.

Joy, laughter, love, gifts, more gifts, yes a lot of gifts! These are the mainstream of Christmas season. As everyone gets so much busy feeding up one another, loading cellular phones to reach people as many as they could just to make others realized they are best remembered so as I am, but in a quite unusual way. No one ever wants to be left behind in celebrating the yuletide season. The expression of love is found everywhere and once felt will even give you the apogee of Christmas.

A season of sharing your time with your family detached from work responsibilities and other extracurricular commitment is waived by this season of love where every day seems so productive than the usual inconsequential days where bulk of tasks, requirements, paper works and heavy assignments pave way to make your eye bags sooty.

The Sangguniang Kabataan was created under Republic Act No. 7160 or the Local Government Code (LGC) in 1991. The creation of the SK serves as training ground of our would-be leaders of the nation who will someday lift up and bring decency to the corrupt government system of the Philippines.

The rise of civilization began with Agriculture. Human society was forever changed as the idea of settling and growing our own foods began to flourish. History will tell us how intimate society’s connection to the land was and this leads us to the unabated fact that Agriculture is very much important. Agriculture is the science and art of the cultivation of soil, the breeding and raising of livestock, tillage, farming, etc. It further refers to the production of food and goods through farming and forestry; creating food surpluses that in some ways enabled the development of more densely populated and stratified societies.
