How to increase quality of VOIP calls while uploading/downloading? We have Time Warner Cable, and Vonage phone. When we are uploading/downloading something on the internet (we own a home-based design business, so this happens often), the quality of our calls is horrible (sometimes not even able to use the phone). What (if anything) would fix this? A higher speed internet connection? Or should we look at switching to a phone line that is not VOIP?

There are also programs that can help prioritize certain traffic, I think, like the phone.

I would highly suggest you give Skype a try,
I download and use Skype simultaneously all the time with little to no interference or dropped calls

try www.sipphone.com it's free and im using it. you can even call a VoIP phone with this.

Call Time Warner Cable and Vonage and tell them to get you a better connection in your business. VOIP call quality is determined by the speed of the connection.

VOIP is definitely the future in international calling from your business, residence or cell phone. Cost is much, much less than landline or cell phone rates. Does pay to do your research and make sure you sign up with a reputable company with excellent customer service This is very important unless you want to trouble-shoot your own issues.
