However, it didn't work...
i tried this,
<font>engrave</font>
<font>emboss</font>
<font>outline</font>
but it only displayed
engrave emboss outline
in regular text...  |

This will only work on CSS3 compliant browsers. I believe Safari does some CSS3's but haven't actually tried it myself with emboss. Firefox, and IE has not implemented it. At least not the version we're using at the moment.
The emboss effect on HTML is not yet an adopted standard. We don't know which browser will comply first. But whatever, it is useless to use effects on a web page that will not appear the same on all browsers. I suggest, better use embossed text image created via Photoshop.
BTW, on this post, if you want the HTML tags to appear as you'd like, put tick on "Disable HTML in this post.
